Cyathula prostrata, also known as the prostrate pastureweed, is a perennial herbaceous plant found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Its name is derived from the Greek words for "small cup" and "prostrate." In Hindi, it is called "laal chirchita" and in Kannada, "nela uttharaani" or "raktapamarga." It is also known as "cerukadalaadi" in Malayalam, "bhuiaghādā" in Marathi, and "civappu nayuruvi" in Tamil.

This plant is native to various regions in Africa and Asia, including countries such as Benin, India, and Madagascar. It has also been introduced to other areas, such as Bolivia and Puerto Rico. Cyathula prostrata is a prostrate herb with rhomboid leaves and spike-like inflorescences. Its flowers are arranged in groups of 3-5, with one perfect flower and others being neuter. The stamens are united into a cup and the ovary is ovoid with a simple style and capitellate stigma. The plant flowers and fruits from September to April.
