Atriplex spinifera, also known as spiny saltbush or spinescale saltbush, is a type of shrub that is native to California. It thrives in dry environments with salty soil, such as salt flats, and can be found in various regions including the Mojave Desert, the southern Transverse Ranges, and the Central Valley. This plant is well-adapted to its environment, as it is a halophyte, meaning it can tolerate high levels of salt. Atriplex spinifera is a brambly shrub with grayish or whitish branches that can reach up to 2 meters in height. Its branches are stiff and have spiny points at the tips.
