Atriplex parishii, also known as Parish's saltbush or Parish's brittlescale, is a rare plant found in central and southern California, as well as the Channel Islands. It used to have a wider distribution, including parts of the Mojave Desert and Baja California. This plant thrives in salty and alkaline soils, such as those found on dry lakebeds and vernal pools. There are five different varieties of Atriplex parishii, each growing in a different region. It is a small annual herb with short, scaly stems and small, oval leaves. The flowers, which can be male or female, are clustered together and bloom from June to October.
