Achyranthes margaretarum is a rare plant species found on Phillip Island, near Norfolk Island in the Pacific Ocean. It was discovered in the 1980s after rabbits were eradicated from the island, highlighting the success of the eradication program. With a population of less than 20 mature individuals in 2003, it is considered critically endangered. In 2009, 22 plants were identified, but only 9 were taller than 50cm. This plant is similar to another endemic species, Achyranthes arborescens, but is smaller and more compact, with bronze-green leaves and maroon-colored flowers. It also has unique top-shaped fruit.
