Thysanocarpus conchuliferus, also known as the Santa Cruz Island fringepod, is a rare flowering plant found only on Santa Cruz Island in California. It is an endangered species and its habitat is limited to the island's coastal scrub. This delicate annual herb has slender stems and linear or lance-shaped leaves. Its inflorescence is a dense cluster of small white to purple flowers, and its fruit is a flat, round capsule with a fringed wing. The plant faces threats from non-native animals, collectors, competition from invasive species, fire suppression, and climate change. Efforts have been made to remove feral pigs, which have damaged many populations of this rare plant, from the island.
