Streptanthus vernalis, also known as early jewelflower, is a rare flowering plant in the mustard family. It was first discovered in the 1970s but was not officially described until 2005. This plant is found only in Lake County, California and is limited to serpentine outcrops in forested and chaparral habitats. Genetic analysis has shown that it is a distinct species from other Streptanthus plants and is closely related to Streptanthus morrisonii. It is a hairless annual herb with thick, fleshy leaves and white flowers. The fruit is a flattened silique containing orange seeds. This plant is currently only known from one location and is considered to be at risk of extinction.
