Parlatoria is a genus of flowering plants in the Brassicaceae family, consisting of only one species, Parlatoria cakiloidea Boiss. This annual plant grows up to 30-50 cm tall and has basal and stem leaves with acute teeth. It blooms with long white flowers between April and May and has a distinctive garlic smell when crushed. The fruiting pedicels are thick and horizontally spreading, with a seed capsule containing 1-2 seeds. Originally thought to have three species, further research has shown that Parlatoria taurica and Parlatoria rostrata are actually synonyms of other plants. The genus name is in honor of Italian botanist Filippo Parlatore, and the specific epithet refers to its resemblance to the genus Cakile. Parlatoria is native to Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Turkey, and is typically found on rocky slopes at altitudes of 1,200 meters above sea level.
