They can be used in salads, sandwiches, or as a garnish. However, it is not commonly used for culinary purposes.
Lepidium didymum, also known as the lesser swine-cress, is a flowering plant in the Brassicaceae family. It is an annual or biennial herb with green stems and pinnate leaves. It blooms between July and September, producing inconspicuous white flowers and small orange or reddish brown seeds. The plant was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1767 and its specific epithet, didymum, refers to its twin-like seed capsules. While its origin is uncertain, it is believed to be native to South America and has been introduced as a weed in other parts of the world. Lepidium didymum is commonly found in gardens, lawns, and waste ground, and has naturalized in many regions. While its leaves are edible and have a salty, cress or mustard flavor, it is not commonly used for culinary purposes.
