Cardamine flagellifera, also known as Blue Ridge bittercress, is a perennial herb found in the eastern region of North America, particularly in the southern Blue Ridge. It produces white flowers in the spring and is typically found in moist cove forests, bottomlands, and along streambanks. Unlike a similar species, Cardamine clematis, which grows in high elevations, C. flagellifera is usually found in lower to moderate elevations. Due to its limited distribution and specific habitat requirements, it is considered to be a vulnerable species. There are two recognized varieties of C. flagellifera, one with larger flowers and a wider range, and the other with smaller flowers and a more restricted range.
