Phacelia submutica, also known as De Beque phacelia, is a rare flowering plant found only in Colorado, USA. It is limited to the Piceance Basin in two counties and is threatened by petroleum exploration. This plant was federally listed as a threatened species in 2011. It is an annual herb with reddish leaves and cream-colored or yellowish flowers. The plant is found in 39 locations, but its population size varies greatly due to environmental conditions. It grows in forest and shrubland habitats and is often found among other plant species such as pointed gumweed and Gordon's buckwheat. The main threat to this plant is natural gas development, as many occurrences are on land leased for extraction. Other threats include soil damage by livestock and competition from introduced plant species.
