Lithospermum molle, also known as the softhair marbleseed, is a flowering plant found primarily in the Nashville Basin of Tennessee. It is a narrow endemic species, meaning it is only found in a small geographic area. This plant grows in limestone prairies near cedar glades, and can also be found in similar habitats in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri, northwest Alabama, and other small areas of Tennessee. However, due to habitat destruction, it is considered vulnerable and may no longer exist in some areas outside of Tennessee. This species has often been confused with other plants, but recent research has helped clarify its true geographic range and unique characteristics.
