Cordia boissieri, also known as anacahuita, Mexican olive, white cordia, or Texas wild olive, is a white-flowered evergreen shrub or small tree in the borage family. It is native to southern Texas in the United States and central Mexico and was named after Swiss explorer and botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier. This tree can reach a height of 5-7 meters and has symmetrical round leaves that are 9-18 cm long. Its flowers are present throughout the year and its fruits, although sweet, can be slightly toxic when fresh. The tree has various uses, including making jellies and syrups, treating illnesses, and being used as firewood and for carpentry. It is also a popular ornamental plant and is the official flower of the state of Nuevo León in Mexico. Additionally, it serves as a host plant for the wild olive tortoise beetle.
