Cordia africana, also known as Sudan teak, is a medium-sized evergreen tree found in Africa. It belongs to the borage family and produces white flowers. The tree has multiple uses, including the production of drums and high-quality furniture. Its wood is also used for flooring, window making, and interior decking. The tree is a valuable source of nectar for bees and its leaves can be used for forage. The fruit of Cordia africana is also edible. The Akan Drum, currently housed in the British Museum, is made from this tree, confirming its use in African manufacturing.
