Scaevola calendulacea, also known as dune fan-flower, is a small shrub with blue fan-shaped flowers and yellow centers. It belongs to the Goodeniaceae family and is commonly found on sand dunes in eastern and southern Australia. The plant has oblong or lance-shaped leaves and grows up to 40 cm high. Its blue flowers, which have soft hairs on the outside and a bearded inside, bloom on terminal spikes up to 8 cm long. The fruit is white or purplish and has a globular shape. Scaevola calendulacea was first described in 1798 and was later assigned to the Scaevola genus in 1917. Its name, calendulacea, refers to its resemblance to the Calendula genus. This plant can be found in coastal areas in South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria.
