Goodenia paniculata, also known as branched goodenia, is a short-lived herb that is native to eastern Australia. It has egg-shaped to lance-shaped leaves with toothed edges and produces racemes of yellow flowers. This plant was first described in 1794 by botanist James Edward Smith and has since been found in various regions of Australia, including Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. It typically grows in freshwater wetlands or swamps with clay, silty, or sandy soils and can even thrive in acidic soils. Branched goodenia is often found in heath or woodland communities, alongside other trees and shrubs such as eucalyptus and melaleuca. Its name, paniculata, refers to the flower panicles, although the flowers actually form on racemes. This unique plant adds beauty and diversity to the Australian landscape.
