Goodenia brachypoda is a unique species of flowering plant that is found only in northern Australia. It is a low-lying to upright herb with narrow leaves and yellow flowers that bloom in racemes. The plant is covered in soft hairs and has leaf-like bracts at the base of its flowers. It was first described in 1868 and was later raised to species status in 1990. The name "brachypoda" refers to its short peduncles. This plant is found in the Northern Kimberley, Victoria Bonaparte, and Ord Victoria Plain regions of Western Australia and the Northern Territory. It is considered a priority species in Western Australia due to its limited distribution, but is not of concern in the Northern Territory.
