Porterella is a genus of flowering plants in the bellflower family containing one species, Porterella carnosula. It is native to the western United States, where it grows in moist spots such as ponds or wet grasslands. It is an annual herb with an erect stem reaching up to 30 centimeters in height. The leaves are oval or triangular in shape, and the flowers have a narrow tubular throat opening into a wide corolla with two narrow upper lobes and three wider, rounded lower lobes. The upper lobes are deep blue and the lower lobes are a similar shade with an area of white and bright yellow near the throat. The genus is named for Thomas Conrad Porter.
