Cyanea pinnatifida, also known as sharktail cyanea, is a rare flowering plant in the bellflower family that is endemic to the island of Oahu in Hawaii. It is now extinct in the wild and can only be found in cultivation. This plant, like other Cyanea species, is known as haha in Hawaiian. It was listed as an endangered species in 1991 when there was only one individual left. Despite efforts to preserve it, the plant died in 2001. Today, some plants are kept at the Lyon Arboretum in Honolulu and a few juveniles have been planted in suitable habitat, but no new plants have been produced. The plant is a shrub that can grow up to ten feet tall with deep lobed leaves and green-tinged white flowers with purple stripes. Due to its rarity, little is known about its life history. The plant was driven to extinction by various factors, including the destruction of its habitat by feral pigs and the presence of invasive plant species and pests.
