Verbesina encelioides, also known as golden crownbeard or wild sunflower, is a flowering plant found in the Asteraceae family. It is native to various regions in the United States and Mexico, but has also been naturalized in other parts of North America, the Middle East, Spain, Argentina, Australia, and the Pacific islands. This plant is known to respond strongly to disturbances and can inhibit the growth of other species in its vicinity. Recent research has shown that it has an allelopathic effect on radishes, which may explain its ability to dominate certain areas. Additionally, it serves as a host for the larva of the bordered patch butterfly.

Sow seeds at 20°C, expecting germination within 3 months without further temperature treatment.
Requires Light or Surface Sowing: These seeds need light to germinate and should not be covered with soil or only very lightly. They are often very small and sown directly on the surface of the growing medium.
