Symphyotrichum pratense, formerly known as Aster pratensis, is a species of flowering plant native to the southeastern United States. It is a perennial, herbaceous plant that can reach up to 40-60 cm tall, and has rose-purple ray florets and pink then purple disk florets. Commonly known as barrens silky aster, it is a popular ornamental plant.
