Stephanomeria virgata, also known as rod wirelettuce, is a herbaceous annual plant found in Western North America. It can be found in dry, open habitats at elevations below 2100 meters and is sometimes used as an ornamental plant. This plant grows 5 to 30 centimeters tall and has a long stem with dense branches. Its leaves are oblong and lobed at the base, but small and linear with smooth edges on the upper plant. The flower heads contain 5 to 9 ray florets and the fruit is an achene with a pappus of white bristles. This plant was previously classified as Stephanomeria diegensis.
