Sonchus laceratus, also known as the pachycaul tree, is a species of plant in the daisy family Asteraceae. It is native to the Desventuradas Islands in Chile and was first described in 1870 by Rodolfo Amando Philippi. It was later transferred to the genera Thamnoseris and Dendroseris before being placed in the genus Sonchus in 2012. This transfer was based on molecular evidence and all species from Dendroseris were moved to Sonchus subg. Dendroseris.
