Solidago villosicarpa, also known as hairy-seed goldenrod, is a species of flowering plant found only in North Carolina, USA. It belongs to the Solidago Squarrosae (Bicolor) group and was first identified in 2000, after being misidentified for several decades. This perennial herb can grow up to 1.5 meters tall and has a single erect stem with rough hairs. Its leaves are serrated and covered in hairs, and it produces yellow flower heads with 4-8 ray florets and 10-18 disc florets. This species is found in a variety of habitats, usually within 1,000 feet of an estuary, and is likely adapted to disturbance patterns, except for fire. Each of the four known populations has between 100 and 1400 individuals, making it critically imperiled.
