Pyrrocoma uniflora, also known as plantain goldenweed, is a flowering plant found in western North America. It can be found in various habitats, including forests and meadows with alkaline soils. This perennial herb can grow up to 40 centimeters tall and has reddish stems covered in woolly fibers. Its leaves are lance-shaped and toothed, with the largest ones reaching up to 12 centimeters in length. The plant produces single or clustered flower heads with yellow disc and ray florets. Its fruit is an achene with a long pappus. There are two varieties of this species, with var. gossypina being a rare type found only in the San Bernardino Mountains of California. This woolly sunflower-like plant is typically found in meadows and unique pebble plain habitats near Big Bear.
