Olearia arida is a unique flowering plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family and is found exclusively in inland western Australia. It is a shrub with an upright or spreading growth habit, covered in soft hairs and bearing long, narrow leaves with a sticky upper surface and woolly white underside. The plant produces clusters of white flowers with bell-shaped bracts and a yellow center, blooming from July to September. Its dry, needle-shaped fruits have fine lines running along them. This species was first described in 1918 and its name, arida, comes from the Latin word for "dry". It is found in sand hills in various regions of Western Australia, South Australia, and the Northern Territory. Olearia arida is considered rare or near threatened and is listed as a "Priority Four" species in Western Australia.
