Nabalus altissimus, also known as tall rattlesnakeroot or white lettuce, is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family. It was previously classified as Prenanthes, but in 2010 it was reclassified as Nabalus. This plant is typically found in mesic environments, such as riparian zones, and it blooms in late summer and autumn. It is native to the eastern United States, ranging from Michigan and Missouri to Texas and Quebec, Canada. However, it is not found in Alabama, Mississippi, or Florida. In Texas, it can be found in Jasper and Newton counties in the southeastern part of the state.
