Mikania scandens is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to the eastern and central United States and parts of Mexico. It is an introduced and invasive species in many Pacific Islands and in parts of southern Asia. It is a perennial herb which grows as a branching vine, with triangular or heart-shaped leaves and pinkish, purplish, or white flower heads. The pappus-tipped seeds are dispersed on the wind or on clothing or fur, and the plant also reproduces vegetatively by rooting from the nodes on sections of stem. It is cultivated as a cover crop, livestock fodder, and ornamental plant, and is used in traditional medicine systems of the Indian subcontinent. It is also a host plant for the larvae of the Little Metalmark.
