Mikania natalensis, also known as the Natal mikania, is a plant native to Africa and belongs to the Asteraceae family. It is a vigorous perennial climber with opposite leaves that are triangular and toothed. The plant produces cream-colored flowers with a strong scent from April to September. It is often mistaken for the invasive species Chromolaena odorata, and its natural habitat is threatened by this alien invader. Mikania natalensis is an important food source for butterflies, bees, wasps, and flies. In traditional Zulu and Swazi medicine, it is used to treat urinary problems, headaches, backaches, and colds.
