The plant is named after American botanist Liberty Hyde Bailey.
Lorandersonia baileyi, also known as Bailey's rabbitbrush, is a flowering plant found in North America. It belongs to the Asteraceae family and the Astereae tribe. This plant was first discovered in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico in 1902 and has since been found in various other locations such as Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Nuevo León. It is a shrub that can grow up to 70 cm tall and has small yellow flower heads with 5 disc florets and no ray florets. The plant is named after Liberty Hyde Bailey, an American botanist.
