Hieracium villosum, also known as the shaggy hawkweed, is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. It typically grows to be 30-45 centimeters tall and has dense basal rosettes of silver-grey, woolly leaves. The bright yellow flowers are about 4-5 centimeters in size and bloom from July to August. This species is native to France, Italy, Central Europe, the Balkan Peninsula, Romania, and Russia. It can be found in mountainous areas at elevations of 1,400-2,500 meters above sea level, in calcareous stony and grassy places.
