Helianthus ciliaris, also known as Texas blueweed or yerba parda, is a species of sunflower found in the south-central and southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It can also be found in other parts of North America as an introduced species and is considered a noxious weed. This plant is known for its ability to grow in disturbed areas, cultivated land, and along roadsides. It has blue-green foliage and can reach heights of 40 to 70 centimeters. Its root system allows it to spread horizontally and new plants can sprout from a distance or even from fragmented pieces. The leaves are variable in size and shape, but typically have rough hairs along the edges. The flowers are yellow-tipped red disc florets surrounded by a fringe of curling yellow ray florets. Some heads may not have ray florets.
