Helianthus argophyllus, also known as silverleaf sunflower, is a species of sunflower native to coastal regions of Texas in North America. It has also been naturalized in other places such as Florida, North Carolina, Argentina, Africa, and Australia. This annual herb can grow up to 300 cm tall and is characterized by its silvery appearance due to a coating of fine hairs on its leaves and stems. It produces 1-5 flower heads, each containing 15-20 ray florets and 150 or more disc florets. This plant is typically found in sandy areas near the coast.
