In Namibia, subsp. schaeferi is considered to be of least concern, but subsp. filifolia is considered to be vulnerable. In the Red List of South African plants, the species is considered to be of least concern.
Felicia filifolia is a Southern African member of the family Asteraceae. It is a hardy, sprawling shrub that grows up to 1 meter tall. Its leaves are narrow and clustered along the twigs, giving it the name "fine-leaved felicia." When in bloom, it is covered in dense clusters of pink-mauve to white ray florets and yellow disc florets. It can be found blooming in the wild from August to December. This species is commonly found in mountainous areas, growing amongst rocks. However, it is suspected of causing haemorrhaging when ingested by sheep. In English, it is also known as "needle-leaved felicia" or "wild aster," while in Afrikaans it is called "draaibos" and in Sesotho it is known as "sehalahala-seseholo." There are four recognized subspecies of Felicia filifolia, each with distinct characteristics and distributions. The species is not
