Erigeron tweedyi, also known as Tweedy's fleabane, is a perennial herb belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to the Rocky Mountains in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. This plant was first described and named in 1888 by William Marriott Canby, who named it after Frank Tweedy, the first person to collect it. The plant has silvery hairy leaves and produces daisy-like flower heads with lavender rays and yellow discs from June to August. It grows from a taproot and branching underground caudex and can reach up to 20 cm in height. Erigeron tweedyi is similar in appearance to another species, E. tener, but can be distinguished by its densely hairy basal leaves and wider width. It is found in clay hills, rocky slopes, and sagebrush-grasslands at elevations of 1600-3000 m. The plant was first discovered by Frank Tweedy in 1887 and is now cultivated in rock and alpine gardens. It thrives in dry, partially shaded areas, similar to its natural habitat.
