Dimorphotheca dregei, also known as bietou, is a perennial plant native to South Africa. It grows up to 20 cm tall from a woody base and has linear leaves with strong teeth. The plant produces purple flowers with white rays and brown bottoms, and its disc florets are sterile. It is most commonly found in August and September and grows on sandstone slopes in the Western Cape region of South Africa, specifically between the Bokkeveld Mountains, Bredasdorp, and Klein Swartberg. The small, dry fruit of this plant, called achenes, have small bumps and round toothed margins.
