Cotula australis, also known as bachelor's buttons, annual buttonweed, southern waterbuttons, and Australian waterbuttons, is a small plant in the daisy family native to Australia and New Zealand. It is considered a common weed in other parts of the world, such as South America, California, Mexico, and South Africa. This plant grows close to the ground in a thin mat with small, spindly stems and fringelike leaves. Its flowers are small and yellow, surrounded by greenish brown bracts and rudimentary ray florets. The fruit is a tiny winged achene.
