Carphephorus tomentosus, also known as the woolly chaffhead, is a type of plant found in North America. It belongs to the Asteraceae family and is commonly found in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This herb can grow up to 80 cm tall and is characterized by its woolly appearance due to the abundance of hairs covering it. It produces small purplish flower heads without any ray florets, arranged in a flat-topped inflorescence.
