Berkheya fruticosa is a drought-tolerant perennial plant native to the Succulent Karoo of Namibia and South Africa. It grows to a height of 15-25 cm and has prickly leaves. It produces dark yellow aster flowers and is commonly found in rocky areas. It is also known as vaaldissel or "pale pole" in Afrikaans.
