Ambrosia cheiranthifolia, also known as South Texas ambrosia or Rio Grande ragweed, is a rare flowering plant native to the coast of South Texas and parts of Mexico. It can be found in coastal prairies, grasslands, and mesquite shrublands, but its population has declined due to habitat destruction and invasion by non-native grasses. Currently, there are only about 20 remaining populations, with some consisting of only a few genetic individuals due to its clonal nature. It is uncertain if the plant still exists in Mexico. This plant is listed as an endangered species in the United States. It is a rhizomatous perennial herb with silvery green stems and leaves covered in rough gray hairs. Its inflorescence contains clusters of staminate flower heads and a few pistillate heads. It is often found growing alongside another endangered species, the slender rush-pea.
