Ambrosia ambrosioides, also known as canyon ragweed or chicura, is a shrub found in the deserts of northern Mexico, Arizona, and California. It grows up to 2 meters tall and has elongated, toothed leaves. The plant produces both male and female flowers on separate racemes, with flowering occurring from February to April. Its fruits are covered in hooked spines. This ragweed can be distinguished from a similar species, Ambrosia ilicifolia, by its leaves and teeth. It is commonly found in disturbed areas and was used by the Seri people for medicinal and cultural purposes. It is also host to several insect-induced galls.
