The toropapa or karapapa (Alseuosmia macrophylla) is a plant species in the family Alseuosmiaceae. It is a small evergreen shrub that is endemic to New Zealand, along with two closely related species. It is found in the North Island, particularly in the Hamilton Ecological District, where it grows in the understory of forests alongside other plants such as Blechnum discolor and Blechnum filiforme. The plant is known for its pleasant-scented flowers, and its family name translates to "perfumed grove". The small red berries of the toropapa are edible and have a sweet taste. While it is a hardy plant, it cannot tolerate full sunlight or frost and needs its roots to stay moist and cool. It is sometimes cultivated as a garden plant.
