Vanda sanderiana, also known as Waling-waling, is a species of orchid named after the renowned orchidologist Henry Frederick Conrad Sander. It is considered the "Queen of Philippine flowers" and is worshiped by the indigenous Bagobo people. The plant has two forms, pink and white, and is endemic to Mindanao in the Philippines. It is often used in hybridization and studies have shown that it flowers early when raised at high altitudes. In 2013, a bill was passed declaring it as a national flower alongside the Sampaguita, but was vetoed by the President. The species has three varieties, each with unique characteristics and is now extremely rare in its natural habitat.
