Oeceoclades petiolata is a type of orchid that is found only in certain regions of Madagascar. It was first identified by a German botanist in 1913 and has since been moved to different genera by other botanists. In 1976, it was finally placed in the genus Oeceoclades by two other botanists who noted its similarities to another species, O. alismatophylla, but distinguished it by the shape of its labellum. The labellum of O. petiolata is fiddle-shaped and has three thickened veins in front of the calli.
