Epidendrum secundum, also known as the Wiñay Wayna orchid, is a species of orchid that belongs to the crucifix orchid group. It is a poorly understood plant with thin stems and non-resupinate flowers that can come in shades of lilac, red, orange, or yellow. It is a cool-growing plant that can tolerate light frost. The species is part of the Epidendrum subgenus Amphiglottium and is characterized by its long seeds, measuring 6.0 mm in length. There are many varieties of E. secundum, some of which have been suggested to deserve species rank. The plant has been found in various countries in South America, including Peru and Brazil, and can grow in both montane forests and disturbed roadside habitats. Despite its common name, the plant is not actually lop-sided or have flowers all in one plane, as its name suggests.
