Dipodium pulchellum is a unique orchid species found in north-east New South Wales and south-east Queensland in Australia. It is a perennial herb with almost no above-ground presence for most of the year. Its flowering spikes can reach up to 90 cm in length and bear up to forty pink flowers with dark blotches. This species was formally described in 1987 and is known for its pretty appearance, as reflected in its specific epithet "pulchellum". It is found in specific areas such as the Tallebudgera Range and Wardell, Grevillia, and Tia Falls. Pollination of this species is done by native bees and wasps. Unfortunately, it has not been successfully cultivated due to its dependence on mycorrhizal fungi.
