Calochilus grandiflorus, also known as the giant beard orchid or golden beard orchid, is a type of orchid that is found only in eastern Australia. It has a single leaf with a reddish base and can produce up to fifteen large golden bronze-colored flowers with a unique red or coppery red "beard". The plant is a perennial herb with an underground tuber and can grow up to 30-50 mm in length. Its flowers, which bloom from September to December, are borne on a tall, wiry stem and have distinct features such as a flat labellum with red calli and a glandular "tail" at the tip. The species was first described in 1873 and was later raised to species status in 1915. It is commonly found in near-coastal heath and mountains in New South Wales and southeastern Queensland.
