It is an epiphyte with 1-leaved pseudobulbs on creeping rhizomes. The pseudobulbs are quadrangular and pale yellowish green, arranged distantly on a thick and wiry rhizome. The leaves are erect, oblong, and fleshy with a deep channel in the middle and a short petiole at the base. The inflorescence, which arises from the base of the pseudobulb, is pale green and longer than the leaves. It has a short raceme of pale yellow flowers that smell like ripened jackfruit or mango. This species belongs to the Section Careyana Pfitzer and is closely related to B. rufilabrum Par. & Rchb.f., but can be distinguished by its erect leaves, acute dorsal sepal, and yellow lip with brown papilla.
