Bulbophyllum newportii, also known as the cupped strand orchid, is a type of orchid that is found in tropical North Queensland. It has light green pseudobulbs, a single dark green leaf, and up to eight bell-shaped flowers in white, cream, or green. It can be found growing on trees and rocks at moderate to high elevations. This orchid was first described in 1902 and was later renamed in 1909 to honor the collector of the type specimen. It is mostly found in humid and airy locations, often in exposed areas, in the McIlwraith Range and between the Cedar Bay National Park and Eungella National Park in Queensland.
