It is native to Vietnam and was first described by the French botanist Pierre Edmond Boissier in 1881. The species is found in the evergreen forests of the Annamite Mountains in Vietnam, where it grows on the branches of trees. It has a single, oblong pseudobulb with two to three leaves, and a single, short inflorescence with a single flower. The flower is yellowish-green in color and has a long, curved lip. The sepals and petals are fused into a hood-like structure, and the lip is fringed with hairs. The species is considered to be rare and is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List.
