It is native to tropical Asia, from India to China, and is found in evergreen forests at elevations of up to 1,000 meters. The plant has a creeping rhizome and produces pseudobulbs that are up to 4 cm long. Each pseudobulb produces a single, leathery leaf and a single flower. The flower has a yellowish-green color and is about 1 cm in diameter. It has a sweet, musky scent and is pollinated by bees.
